I am Dr. Sewwandi R. De Silva, a passionate and experienced Ayurvedic physician practicing in Matugama, Sri Lanka.Ayurveda’s focus on treating the root cause of disease and minimizing side effects through effective herbal remedies truly resonated with me. This resonated particularly due to my ancestral lineage, which includes a traditional Sri Lankan Medicine practitioner ”Hela Wedakama practitioner.” My academic excellence paved the way for my selection to the prestigious Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) program at the University of Colombo.
After completing my six-year undergraduate program, I embarked on a year-long internship at esteemed government Ayurvedic hospitals like Borella National Ayurvedic Teaching Hospital, Lunawa District Ayurveda Hospital, and Gampaha Wickramarachchi Ayurveda Hospital. This diverse internship not only enriched my clinical skills but also exposed me to the intricacies of traditional Kadum Bidum practices(traditional orthopedagogy).Driven by a thirst for knowledge and a desire to offer comprehensive care, I pursued further qualifications. I successfully completed an Advanced Certification in Acupuncture, a Diploma in Ayurvedic Beauty Culture, and a Panchakarma certification. These credentials complement my core Ayurvedic skillset, enabling me to offer customized treatment plans that address both physical and aesthetic concerns.
Since 2020, I have honed my clinical expertise at my personal Ayurvedic clinic in Matugama. Additionally, I have served as a visiting doctor at Villa Welmirah and held the position of main Ayurvedic Doctor at Nivarthana Ayurveda for over two years.These enriching experiences have enabled me to build lasting relationships with diverse patients and collaborate with reputable healthcare institutions.

Nivartana has already become the returning point of my life . Which led me to step out of my career and start engaging with nature and it’s gifts. Coming from an island which includes one of the largest biodiversity of the world. It surprises me day by day how our ancient ancestors cured disease and lived a nature friendly healthy life. Therefore it increased my curiosity to learn and at the same time help people with my knowledge. With this passion I spent the last few years collecting knowledge on ayurveda and indigenous Sri Lankan medicine. I believe that the rhythm of life moves only with a great balance of mind, body and soul, engaged with our mother nature. Therefore I promised myself to keep on increasing my knowledge on this great subject.
